Education
Sower International is dedicated to transforming lives and communities in East Africa, South Asia as well as in different countries in East Asia through the impact of education. Together with local and international partners, Sower International provides inclusive learning opportunities to individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that no one is left behind.
Starting with early childhood education we focus on shaping the foundation of learning during children’s most formative years. We also work on primary and secondary levels, with a special focus on language development and English teaching. For those seeking to advance academically, we partner with colleges and universities to support higher education, fostering innovation and leadership.
In addition to academic pathways, we emphasize vocational training to equip individuals with practical skills that open doors to employment and entrepreneurship. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by persons with disabilities and other individuals in vulnerable situations, we advocate for inclusive education models that empower everyone to achieve their fullest potential.
Through collaboration with local communities, educators, and policymakers, we are transforming lives through education and building a meaningful future — for good to grow.
Transforming Lives Through Education
Bangladesh
- Community Schools: Since 1985, established and operated about 30 primary schools in rural villages, most of which were later handed over to local communities or other organizations. Some schools ceased operations due to the improvement and expansion of government schools, which now adequately serve those areas.
- Early Childhood Education: Our partner operates a day care center for children from rural areas. This initiative ensures that children receive foundational learning experiences critical for their cognitive and social development. Additionally, the center provides a safe and nurturing space for the children while parents are at work.
- Vocational Training for Vulnerable Groups: Annually tens of persons with disabilities and other individuals in vulnerable situations took part in vocational training, equipping them with the skills to start their own businesses, improve their social status, and provide for their families.
- Youth and Student Stipends: Hundreds of students from ethnic minority groups have received financial stipends, enabling them to pursue secondary, high school, college, and university education. Many of them successfully secured government and other well-regarded jobs, improving their economic stability and contributing to community development.
- Empowered Ethnic Minority Group: The improved education of the youth uplifted the social status of an entire ethnic minority group, fostering greater recognition and opportunities for them.

Ethiopia
- A children’s day center, operated by our partners, serves as a lifeline for 60 children from vulnerable backgrounds. Among them are orphans and children living with relatives or friends. Through the center, they are provided with essential school supplies, enabling them to participate in formal education alongside their peers.
- Meeting basic needs: In addition to academic support, the center ensures the children’s basic needs are met by providing two hot meals a day, six days a week. Twice a year the children receive new clothing and shoes, as well as coverage for their healthcare expenses.
- Improving prospects: Recognizing the challenges of large class sizes and the lack of remedial teaching in schools, the center offers supplementary educational support. This additional teaching not only enhances the children’s learning experience but also significantly improves their prospects for higher education and future career opportunities.

- Broadened Perspectives: We take part in promoting cross-cultural exchange, offering students diverse viewpoints on worldwide issues and encouraging a deeper understanding of the interconnected world and its challenges.
- Impactful Outcomes: The educational work in East-Asia prepares students for future opportunities in higher education and international careers and strengthens the foundation for a more inclusive, innovative, and cooperative international community.
